About the Program
The Program is multi-disciplinary in content and designed for faculty without prior experience in Japanese studies who wish to incorporate information about Japan into the courses they teach. In addition to the preparatory readings that are made available prior to the Institute, participants receive an Institute Pack containing bibliographical and Internet resources related to Japan, as well as copies of source materials to complement the seminars and lectures that constitute the core of the Institute.
JSI is a two-week residential experience offering a comprehensive introduction to Japanese culture, history, and society. Participants will live, learn, and collaborate with peers from across AASCU member institutions, sharing perspectives and strategies for globalizing undergraduate education. Whether you are new to Japanese studies or looking to expand your international initiatives, this program is designed to support and empower you in creating a lasting impact with students on your campus.
